Ambassadors Ireland girl’s football kicked off in September 2007 simply out of a desire shared by a group of friends to play football.  We started off playing indoor 5-aside, but as numbers increased we realized it was time to up the pace a little and have someone come in to coach us.  As the team was set up, the opportunity came for us to travel to Senegal/Guinea Bissau last summer alongside the men’s team.  On this trip we played the Guinea Bissau national team in their national stadium.  It was an incredible experience and one which each of us will never forget.

Now, even though the girl’s team is in the early stages, there is so much potential.  At present we train each Monday night from 8:30-10pm at Tartaraghan Church Sports Hall.  If you are interested it would be great to have you along!  We have a real mix of players ranging from those who play competitively to those who have never played before.  So, regardless of ability, you will be made very welcome!

The aim of Ambassadors FC is to ‘bring hope through football’.  Setting up the girl’s team is only the beginning and a small part of the overall vision.  Bringing hope through football means two things: -

1.    Going into our local communities and across the world using football as a way to build relationships with people and through this share our faith.

2.    Sharing the love of God with our team mates

We are excited about what the future may hold as we aim to further develop the team, work in schools and possibly prison.
